Critique
There are so many sewing patterns out there and so many instagram and blog posts devoted to talking about them. However, sometimes it is hard to find an honest review of the pattern, the drafting and the instructions.
Here are some reviews of patterns I have blogged about, detailing the good the bad and sometimes the ugly!
I also consider whether the pattern lives up to either its hype, the values of the brand by whom it was designed and the pattern’s promises.
The design is wonderful. I love the pleat / pintuck on the back bodice, that not only makes it really comfortable to wear, but adds a kind of utilitarian feel to it and specifically fits with the ‘flight suit’ naming.
Pants aren’t necessarily the easiest garments to make, but also not the hardest. In fact the hardest part is getting the fit right.
Writing honestly about patterns can be a bit of a minefield, particularly when writing about independent pattern designers.
If you search #ogdencami on Instagram you’ll see close to 13,000 posts. That’s a huge amount in any sphere, but for a sewing pattern that seems crazy big numbers.

I can tell you that having a sewing pattern named after you is pretty great.
This jacket is vying for place as one of the most favourite things I have made.
